Providing Professional Oversight & Expert Care
At Homewatch CareGivers®, nursing services often consist of advanced care coordination services, which are designed to meet the needs of clients with significant medical conditions. Nurses, including RNs (Registered Nurses) and LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurses), RPNs (Registered Practical Nurses) and LVNs (Licensed Vocational Nurses) may provide long-term care planning and oversight for our clients, as well as the initial evaluation and creation of the care plans.
Supervision of caregivers is another function of our nursing staff. Caregivers such as home health aides, personal support workers (PSW), Personal Caregivers, and others receive supervision and training from a nurse. Nurses are uniquely skilled to make healthcare referrals to occupational and physical therapists or to recommend that durable medical equipment, ramps, or oxygen supplementation be considered for the well-being of the client.
Sometimes medications can be re-ordered or picked up by our nurse or even set up and tracked to ensure adherence to a medication regimen. RNs, LPNs, RPNs, and some highly skilled PSWs can accompany clients to physician visits and appointments with other healthcare practitioners, help clients and families understand follow-up care and instructions, maintain a calendar of appointments, and keep family members informed of the client’s condition.

Nutritional assistance is another frequently requested service. Our nurses can often help with menu planning, the creation of grocery lists, shopping for the client, meal preparation within nutritional guidelines, and recording client intake and diet as possible solutions for a given family.
Nursing services that are most typically referred out to our home healthcare partners include things such as applications of dressings, intravenous feeding, tube feeding, heat treatments, rehab nursing, and injections.
