5 Tips for Living with Arthritis

1. Keep moving.
Staying still might reduce pain sensations, but is not good for circulation, joints, ligaments, or muscles.


2. Respect pain.
Listen to the body and get treatments or medication for pain because it’s a sign that the body is in distress. Don’t “grin and bear it.”


3. Eat well.
Some foods can cause inflammation whereas others can fight inflammation.


4. Laugh and listen.

Deep breathing, yoga, and meditation are just a few of the ways to reduce stress and control blood pressure.

5. Ask for help.

Don’t risk injury because of pride. Arthritis can make activities of daily living a challenge, such as bathing or cooking. Ask family, friends, or a caregiver to assist with moving furniture, doing chores, and more.
